Writing as a daily mood-enhancer (and more!)

I don't know if I could live without writing - by hand or on the computer - it rarely fails to energise me.

Graham Greene had similar views:

"Writing is a form of therapy; sometimes I wonder how all those who do not write, compose, or paint can manage to escape the madness, melancholia, the panic and fear which is inherent in a human situation."

The act of writing prevents us from going round and round in circles, which we are prone to do when we rely too heavily on our thoughts alone as a guide.

Putting words to a page anchors them to a spot outside of our minds. This is crucial because by doing this, we create psychological space.

Writing as a daily practice, therefore, means at least two things:

- We are uplifted daily.

- We become better writers.

Do you write every day?

--------- A review from my latest book, Illusory:

'Honestly, I wish I had access to these sorts of materials at school. I would have done much better. I shall be teaching my children these sorts of principles along with my faith.

The key take-away is that we can learn to watch ourselves without believing that what we think is ‘real’. This is a trip well-worth taking (and I took it myself) and my life is much more content as a result.
